98b4nsh33 Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 hey i was wondering how long it takes to warmup a banshee?? i just got one and i start and let it warmup for like 30-40 seconds and put it in first and start letting out clutch and it wont take any gas.. so i let it run for about 2 mins then it is great Quote
SandBastard Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 30-40 seconds isnt enough time for mine to warm up either. 2 minutes sounds pretty good. I let mine warm up while I put my helmet and gloves on and sometimes it still needs more time. If you start riding b4 its warm (running cleanly) just go easy on it till its warm or else you'll cold seize it. Bad news. Quote
Wallrat Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 I installed a meat thermometer temp gauge and I let it warm up until it reads 100*. It depends on the outside temp but I'd say that 1.5-5min is about right. You should at least warm it up enough so that you don't have white smoke coming out the pipes. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 yeah deffinately warm up longer than 30-40 secs. i let mine warm for probably maybe 3 mins. i wait till the head and pipes are nice and warm them i put around until my temp gauge goes to 100, for some reason my gauge doesnt work at idle Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 let it warm up really well before you tear ass on them. remember its water cooled and if you dont let it warm up the piston will expand faster than the cylinders. this will cause major problems. i let mine warm up for a long time, especially when its reallly cold out. 2004LEBanshee Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 I let mine warm untill it is pretty warm to the touch on the head. Quote
BansheeBoy17 Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 I also have a heatseeker temp guage. Let me tell you its the best 15 or 20 bucks I ever spent ! Tell me exactly what the temp is ... if its running too hot or not, or even too cold . I usually let mine warm up to 80 degrees . Temp guage is my #1 choice for a first mod Quote

evil Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 www.warptdriveperformance.com i had one too and it kicked ass, but when i put on the desert tank i had to go back to a stock hose and loose the guage. theres info on the site to build your own temp guage for half the cost, well worth looking into. i usually let mine warm up for a good 5 minutes being if it gets a little hot, im gonna rip on it anyway and with the guage i noticed while riding it drops back down to normal rather quickly. Demon350 Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 i leave mines till my toomeys r hot, and throttle responce feals good. thats just me tho Quote
psd1 Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 I always let mine idle and warm up for about 2 minutes. Then ride it easily for a 1/4 mile or so and it seems to be working for me. My buddy has an 03 and he just kicks it & rips it...he has already had to put a top-end on it Quote
Wallrat Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Hey evil, remind me to hook you up next time you're here. I've got some stainless T piping at work that will probably work even with your setup. I agree on the temp gauge being the first mod you should do. Its great for preventing major damages, telling you when the bike is warmed up, and a nice indication of how mods affect your cooling system. Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 i always let mine warm up for about 4 to 5 minuts when i was on gas i had a inline temp guage watch out though banshees are prone to cold sesuires if they don't get warmed up ..... on alky it takes me like 10 minuts to get to like 100 degrees i have to baby it for about a minut or two Quote
