cam2 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 A friend of mine has a Trinity 420 big bore with the stage IV porting and he wants to get the new cheetah cylinders and he’s willing to make me a great deal on his 420 (hotrod crank trued and welded, pistons, cylinders, head, etc.). the engine has only been together for about a year, it isn’t ridden a whole lot and it isn’t ridden hard in the trails but he makes a few drag passes with it every once in a while when he finds someone that’s willing to race. My question is would it be a good idea to have the rod bearings replaced before I put it together or would I be fine by putting it together and running it like it is. The motor runs strong and it is well taken care of but I would hate to have to replace the bearings in a year or so if I don’t do it now. thanks. chuck. Quote
Patriot Racing Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 The big end rod bearings are most likely going to be OK and not need any parts replaced other than fresh gaskets. When the pistons are removed, not a bad idea to replace those bearings- the wrist pin bearings- and use NEW circlips for the install. Quote
