SURFRIDER53 Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 I am having a problem starting my banshee. it has been sitting for about 8 months. with a little help from some carb cleaner it finally starts. it will not idle at all. it fires on one cylinder ok but is very speratic on the other, i have cleaned the living hell out of the carbs and still my problem persists. people have suggested that i have a vaccum problem and others have said that it might be a cdi unit. also when i give it throttle it sounds very throughty and the rpms dont increase all that much. It is spitting alot of oil out of the pipes and and spewing alot of smoke. any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated Quote
Holyman Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 New plugs, NEW GAS, check fuel flow from the tank, check TORS connections {if connected at all} if that doesn't work, check to make sure your pipes haven't been plugged up with mouse nesting. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 last time all that shit happened to my banshee i had to rebuild , but follow what holyman said cause he covered about everything Quote

Need For Speed Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 If you had your carbs apart for cleaning make sure you hokked your choke tube back on .!!! Quote
National Banshee Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 If any two stroke with premix fuel sits for any length of time, the pilot jets in the carb will varnish shut. The gas evaporates but the oil and fuel additives remain and act like glue. Make shure you remove the pilots and clean them by running a small wire through them. A banshee is very prone due to its small pilot jet size. Need For Speed made a good point, Watch that you hooked up the choke hose between the two carbs. Quote
p8121 Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Mine is doing the same exact thing, word for word. After sitting for about 2 months, barly runs, smokes, backfires I also have the oil comming from the tailpipes and I have fouled a few sets of pulgs trying to get it to run. let me know what fixes yours. Also where is theis "hole" or jet (or whatever that guy said) that gets varnished up? maybe thats my problem? Thank you, [email protected] Quote

SDD Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 If it's a newer model you might want to tighten the parking brake if you still have it. I live in Sabre Springs if you want to swing it by my place I'll get it running. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 you also might try swapping the plug wires to opposite cylinders to make sure its not an electrical problem. Only takes a second. I always drain my carbs at the end of the season to lessen the chances that crap will build up in the jets. SDD knows his shit he fixed my bike up all nice and running so if you can't figure it out I would let him help Quote
SURFRIDER53 Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 SSD.......I recently blocked off the parking brake but i'm really not sure what to do with the electrical portion of it. do i remove the wiring or just leave it there. and how can i get ahold of you if i need your help????
