  1. a hole in the exhaust could lean out that cylinder.....depending on how big the hole is.
  2. TORS = Throttle Over Ride System I just unplugged mine and removed everything for the emergency brake. No problems for 5 years. As a matter of fact, I still have the wires hanging off the top of the carbs. I just wire tied them out of the way. I will probably get the tors ellimination some day if they start becamoing a PITA but for now..if it aint broke don't fix it is the way for me. I know guys that their banshee was screaming and running great when all of a sudden, it only idles and won't rev. Come to find out the emergency brake switch was keeping it from running right. I don't know why Yamaha puts that TORS on everything they build. It is always the first thing removed. It must have something to do with liability or something. I have had snow mobiles with it the banshee had it my buddies kid has a blaster that had it....a blaster !!!!!!!!!!
  3. I haven't run my shee for a long time. I just never have time anymore. So a few weeks ago I open up the gas tank and take a wiff cause the fuel has been in there for a while. I always use fuel stabalizer but it has been a very long time. It ran fine when I put it away last. So I take a whiff of the gas and it smells fine. I turn on the fuel valve and hold pull out the choke ( I have to hold my choke out or it will pull back in by itself) Kick it a few times and she fires up. It was pretty cold out so I hold the choke out for about two minutesto get her warmed up. After that I let the choke back in to the halfway notch for a minute. Then turn off the choke. As soon as there was no choke, the kick start side cylinder stops running. I pull out the choke and it fires again. Then both cylinders start acting up. So I pull the carb off and give it a quick clean. When I empty the bowl I get that bad gas smell. Now I always run all the fuel out of my carbs when I am done riding. I just turn off the fuel valve and let it idle until it runs out of gas. This has kept my carbs clean for years. So I put the carb back together and I get the same symptoms. I got pissed and put the thing away. Fast forward to today. I drained all the gas and put fresh pre mix in with stabalizer. Try to fire it up and I get the same results. The kickstart side cylinder is back firing and only running if the choke is pulled. So I pull that carb again. Sure enough there is a chunk of shit in the main jet. I clean it out and blow everything out with compressed air and give the carb a good cleaning. Put her back together and she now runs like a raped ape again.I am just always amazed at what such a small piece of debris partially blocking the jet will cause. It was probably old gas also. Anyway I took it out riding today and she ripped. I love when I haven't ridden it in a while and hit that powerband what an adrenelin rush. I rode for a few hours today and am realizing I have to make time for my banshee.
  4. My kick starter has the Banshee jingle when it comes back down to idle. Maybe you have some dirt on the kickstarter and it is making a grinding noise? I don't know just guessing.
  5. I never heard of them. I was thinking of getting a Noss cool head with domes for $230.00. Is this Chariot head a cool head? What is the price with domes for a chariot head?
  6. the first thing we did was change the plugs. That wasn't it. He took it back to the shop because he had allready paid the guy. The guy told him it was electrical it was some $35.00 part that goes in the stator. The shop guy charged him another $35.00 and it is running awsome now. We think they screwed something simple up and just to cover his ass the guy made something up after he fixed the problem. Thanks for all your guys help and suggestions.
  7. My friend just redid his shee from the ground up. New swing arm bearings everything. repainted frame, had jugs and cases polished. new top end, everything. His wife got preggo and he wanted to sell it. My nextdoor neighbor was looking to buy a shee and I got the two of them together and a deal was made. So now my neighbor has a mean shee. When he bought it he was told the carbs were not exactly synced perfect and it might be running a little lean. So my neighbor took it to the shop to get it fine tuned before he took it out riding for the weekend. Now when he test road it and took it around the block BEFORE he brought it to the shop it ran mean I mean the front end came off the ground in every gear it was fresh and powerfull. When he got it back from the shop who said it was running too lean and they put in bigger jets. My neighbor takes it back from the shop and took it up and down the street it was running great! the next day it will only idle. When you give it some gas it sits there and backfires and really runs like shit. He is taking it back to the shop who supposedly set it up correctly . Does anyone have any ideas? I checked that choke tube already and it seems fine. The neighbor said the only thing he did was wash it. Could a little water somewhere make it act like that? It has pro circut pipes and silencers with the snorkle removed and I think a couple of those plugs in the air box lid removed as well. I just feel bad Because I recomended the shop he took it too because that is where I had bought mine and mine was set up just right. Any suggestions would be great.
  8. that's fine whatever I need to do I want to get it done while the engine is out. It is still running now but I am trying to plan ahead for next winter I am giong to tear her down put all new bearings and bushings and repaint/powdercoat frame. So I am trying to get parts list and money together so I can do it right the first time. I am just starting my research for the engine now.
  9. I am looking into buying a stroker crank and was wondering which one is the best and most dependable. Also do I have to change my jetting and all that or will it still get enough gas even though the motor would be bigger? I am going to freshen up my top end so while shee is apart I figure I might as well drop the new crank in. Any advice would be great.
  10. how does a two stroke have a burning oil symptom? Aren't they supposed to burn oile?
  11. my she starts 1st or second kick evry time don't need no electric start.
  12. I have a question about two strokes. It is not about my banshee. I just restored a 1976 Arctic Cat Cheetah 5000 snowmobile. The shop manual says AC oil @50:1 but other brands of 2stroke oil @ 20:1. This seems really rich to me. Maybe in 1976 you would need 20:1 but todays oils should have better lubrication and I think I can mix it leaner. What do you guys think. I put some of my banshee mix in just to start her up after the rebuild and that is yamalude @32:1 and the sled smoked like a bitch. Now I don't mind a little extra oil for the break in but when the snow comes I want to lean that mix out a bit. It is a 500 cc air cooled engine. Just looking for some advice on how to figure out a safe ratio for such an old machine. any help would be great.
  13. I wasn't able to get the game it was some car sight. but here is a game for you www.siski.ru/escopeta.swf don't get caught or else!!
