Ha! But that bearing retainer is only keeping the bearing from coming out and I don't see the bearing being able to just pop out since its a bitch just knocking it out with a socket and hammer,and the stem is also bolted to the upper frame. Just seeing what's up!

I stripped the threads on the frame where the bearing retainer goes in for the steering stem. Is it a must that the restrainer goes back in?e3c0157c8a5d0bbfdaebeb148cab4537.jpg

Is that fresh powder coat?!?  Did you put a new bearing in there?

Take the retainer and cut a groove at an angle with the finest cut off wheel. I use a dremel. Sometimes I'll do 2 or 3.

You basically make it into a tap. It will usually chase the threads threads as long as there not destroyed.

Go in a bit and back off and keep doing that to clean everything out. Use plenty of lube too.
