Dome Question

So I know you need different cc domes for the various cool heads that are available, the question is how do you work out which size you need? Ive done a few searches but it only comes up with people asking which they need for the spec they have.

Domes are about volume. The less volume they have, more compression you will get.

 

That's the easy part.

 

 

Now, what do do you need for your setup, compression wise? pump gaz, race gaz, engine config etc. That's a lot of parameters to deal with.

 

So, that's why, you will get this answer most of the time: Ask your builder.

What's done to the motor, what else do you intend on doing to it? What kind of fuel do you wanna run?

Itll be me building the motor, 4mil crank, blaster pistons, mild port job, vforce4, chariot head, fmf gnarleys, normal fuel from a pump. Not built it yet, shes stripped down awaiting parts.

Blaster pistons in stock cylinder? Why not 795's? If the bore is big enough to need blaster pistons, you might as well start out with fresh cylinders.

 

None the less, you will need to know the bore before choosing what domes you want.

You intend to build this motor, but you know nothing of dome specs?

Nothing wrong with letting a machinist do all the work and assembling it your self. But you should definitely learn/know how to check everything and what it means.

Yes, but he needs to figure out exactly what he wants and make a phone call its pretty simple.

You say educate myself, that is why ive made the thread in the 1st place. Its not as simple as picking up the phone here in the UK, there is no specialists for banshees. I wont be doing the porting or the machine work. I will be assembling but i need to know where to start & how to work things out so i can work with my tuner.

 

Parts over here are also a nightmare to get. My cylinders are in great nick & are already 66mm bore.

Sweet dude, thanks for that advice. i can get pistons, gaskets & cranks no problem, its the other bits that are a nightmare like heads/domes etc. Itll be the long rod motor & i wont be running spacers.

Nothing wrong with blaster Pistons if you know what your doing , you need to assemble the motor and measure how far Pistons stick out cylinder . Write that down add.050 and that's the step you need then you need to decide on angle and cc usually when I port someone cylinders I can order domes set up the way I want

Right, itll be long rod 4 mill stroker with 66mm 795 pistons. Chariot head, vforce 4. Can anyone point me in the direction to which domes do i need please.
