gasmask34 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Woking on a 18mil Dm motor. It a modified stock chassis, lighten front-end, 6 plus swingarm, 20x10x10 tires. This is a street banshee. It hooks out the gate and no spinning at all. However, it hooks to hard until 3rd gear and it smoothes then. Will going to an 8 or 10 extended swinger help out? Quote
trickedcarbine Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 If you have traction now, see if you can possibly soften it with the rear shock if it's not strutted. You messing with the Lock up at all? Quote
gasmask34 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Report Posted October 12, 2015 I have struts all the way around. It always hooked to hard. Lockup has 4 springs and each finger has 2 small washers with the nut an bolt Quote
Surfrjag Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 It smoothes then? Im trying to understand your problem Quote
gasmask34 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Report Posted October 12, 2015 If I can get to 3rd gear it smoothes out. 1st & 2nd gear is hitting the wheelie bar hard as hell Quote
sleeper06 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Too much base pressure on the clutch, now depending on your weight ,+10-+12 . If you don't weigh enouph and are strutted things can happen, it will blow the tires off and have you chasing your tail , or it will load the clutch more and your problems will get better Quote
sleeper06 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 You might be able to drop base pressure and leave the arm you have but you need to invest in some tooling and start the process, read the lockout thread, I also feel u have too much weight on the arms Quote
sleeper06 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Just read 18 dm , get a bigger swinger Quote
gasmask34 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Report Posted October 12, 2015 Weight is 225. Gonna try to adjust the chassis alittle. Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 1st, I would start would start with some cheap basics: swingarm angle & 5-10 lbs. of ballast on the front bumper bottom mounting holes. Yes, adding weight in the right places can make a huge difference. I gave an example somewhere on BHQ. With your weight, IMO lengthening the swingarm will still be needed (+10). Quote
gasmask34 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Report Posted October 12, 2015 The guy who owned the motor said he used a plus 10 with no problem. Quote
