I've suspected for a while now that I have a bad ignition (meaning the thingy the key goes into).

The other day, I had just started riding when, while going up a hill mid-throttle, my engine just cut-off and I came to a stop.

Tried to kick it several times, and could tell I wasn't getting any spark.

I turned ignition key off, and back on... kicked it once and she fired right up. No more problem for the next 2 hours of riding.

Sometimes I can't start the banshee on the first few kicks, so I'll turn ignition off/on and she'll start right up.

What should I check/replace to fix this issue?

If you want the key just buy a new switch and key assembly, if you dont care if you have a key or not, follow the harness from the switch, goes to a white 2 wire plug and splice the wires together. I think they are black and black/red stripped, but its been a while so I cant remember the colors for sure

You can also get a closed circuit tether. You can hook it up to the key wires and basically use your tether as the key. This is the setup I'm putting on my quad since the key was already taking off

I use my kill switch as my key. We traced the wires and tied into them behind the radiator on the left hand side. tied into a black and black with white IIRC
