I've heard a lot of good things about John for over 20years. I've only had a few dealings with him but they all have been good. I'm not concerned with getting cheated or anything like that. I'm just curious what other people's options are on what could or should be expected with this set up. Thanks for all the comments.

No I didn't.. I had Jeff at fast port it and sell me everything to assemble it.. I only go to JSR for little things here locally..

Had him build that motor and burned it up during break in. John told me that I must have rode it too hard, I took to camatv and had him check it out. Bad crank seal. Jsr doesn't pressure test anything.

If you're in the Wichita area, do you know if any good places to ride other than badlands and LS?

That does suck, but it doesn't mean a customer shouldn't, or can't do his own leak down test.

Dudes cocky.. I get along with just about everyone.. John always has little punch lines that come off very cocky to me.. Especially talking about the banshee.. I have bought stuff from him and got home and looked at the receipt.. The receipt price is higher then the sticker on the product.. One time I bought a whip and his wife told me they were $25.. So I bought it for $25.. Then the next time I was in there I seen the sign that said whips were $23... I wasn't gonna fuss over $2..

My friend races and had John build his ltr.. Spent a lot of money with John.. My friend has over $20k invested in his race bike..

John was bragging about putting a banshee motor together blind folded.. A guy made him a bet for $100 that he couldn't do it.. Idk if it was true or not..

If I give my motor to some one to assemble they do it 100% I don't expect to have to do anything at all except install and run. Top dollar pay I expect top dollar work.

So for him to not do a leakdown at all is unacceptable.

It's possible that the crank seal went out after I picked it up but after seeing pics of a complete build that he did leaking from the head and boost bottle, I'm guessing the bad crank seal probably was the cause of my original problem. 34c61643282ab06329335a143aec82ae.jpg1b63ea7b7916d19d6b489ab665b22618.jpg

Pics are of my buddies motor that jsr sent out as finished product after a $2800 complete build.

My conclusion, no pressure tests on mine or his. I'm sure John thinks that all leaks should just seal themselves out of gear alone.
