Ljj Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Just rebuilt my banshee, but now I'm looking into building a new motor. I'm going to run what I have now until I finish the motor. What Would it take to out run a 501 yfz? Would a 421 cheetah be enough. All my boys are going over to 450's so I want to make sure I don't get left behind. 1 Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 What kind of riding? Open trails, tight technical trails, dunes, drag? Quote
Ljj Posted April 19, 2015 Author Report Posted April 19, 2015 Open I just want to outrun or hang with them. My boy swears by 450 and raggs on banshees. Quote
Sandking Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 How fast is a 501 yfz, doesn't take much to beat a stoke one. Quote
special06shee Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 A properly setup 421cub will be hard to beat. It will make 90hp give or take depending on carbs, pipes. 2 Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 ^that. If you're riding Open stuff go for a Cheetah Cub. Simple, and almost any combo for them has been thought out, tested and optimized. A 501 4 stroke is gonna have a hard time even pacing any 90+HP banshee on open ground. 1 Quote
BANSHEEBEEFM2M Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 4 strokes are slow. A good ported stock cylinder 4 mill or even stock stroke will blow the yfz away with the right carbs pipes etc Quote
BANSHEEBEEFM2M Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Even if it's stroked to a 501?Yes. If you got the $ go 421 cub, they'll never touch u, but you could beat that yfz without too much $ Quote
Ljj Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Elaborate. What can I do? Thanks 1 Quote
special06shee Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Send out current motor to redline. Tell him you want 100hp... Done. 1 Quote
BANSHEEBEEFM2M Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 4 mill crank and a dune port. Domes setup for race gas. Scp pipes.35 or 36mm carbs v force reeds advanced timing etc Quote
trickedcarbine Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 ^ what beef said. But to do it totally right is only about $750 less then a cub. 1 Quote
