banshee pops

Hello im new to the forum but if someone has some insight i would appreciate it.

 

It seems like when im accelerating it pops like a miss fire but it runs full power?

Did you make any other changes or modifications?

It wont do it if i rev it at idle. Only when im moving. Its an 87 with .20 hot rods crank. Cool head. Boost blottle. Power wings. 35mm pwks. I may have fixed the issue. I put new needles in last week and it still pisses so il have to adjusy floats. When i reassembled carbs and everything i noticed that the left carbs bowl rubs on tge clutch hinge on the case. I got it so it just barely touches and doesnt move the carb when you pull the lever. Il see if that fixes the issue.

Any idea what jets are in the carbs? Typically a pop is lean.

Im not sure. But i took it.out today and it ran like hell. Seems like im getting alittle oil splashing through the exhaust port? The needles are tight and i thought i had the float height correct but i guess not. Is there a standard measurement to use?

Yeah, can't get taptalk to post the image I have but if you look on sudco's site they have detailed images for your carbs.

A lot of junk out of the exhaust may be from electrical. Not getting a good burn of the mixture. And it'll pop and sputter a lot.

Just throwin this out there..

 

My brother in law came to me with about the same description.. Popping when moving.. Fine sittin still.. Come to find out the chain wasnt lined up right with the adjusters and the chain was popin on the sprocket. Just a thought.

^ he also said it didn't seem low on power, an only did it when he was really on it.

Im gonna have yo pull it apart this winter for rebuild so il pull it apart and see. I had just cleaned it when i replaced needles. It sounds fine not like its running like piss.

What type of jetting should i start out with? I plan on taking it back apart this week. Iv listed the mods up alittle higher if anyone could help thatd be great. The carbs were from a 95 yz250 if that helps?
