Its cheaper and weighs less. ktm has went to aluminum fasteners on most the non critical areas. was scratching my head at first because i had never seen anything like that before Quote

JTmachining Posted October 20, 2014 Report Posted October 20, 2014 Actually steel is weak unless treated. 1040 has a UTS of 90ksi. 4130 has a UTS of 81ksi. Grade 5 Ti has a UTS of 130-140ksi. Both 1040 and 4130 can have a UTS of 150-200ksi once heat treated though. U wana talk metallurgy? I don't. Use PVC IDGAF. Quote
