What brake setup is this?

So I continue to find missing and aftermarket parts on my project banshee. I knew I needed a caliper for the front left wheel, however when I pulled off the front right I found this. What bike is this from?

Is there an advantage to running the older style front brakes? Its a 98. Also here is the master cylinder.

The reason I ask is because if the older setup is no better or worse, why swap these onto a 98?

Actually that style is 87-89. The 90 was a J arm bike with late style brakes. The spindles, hubs and rotors are different between the 2 styles.

probably cobbled together, old style calipers mount to the old style spindle. maybe it was all the previous owner had.

Because that's what they had laying around.

Anyone know off hand if extended brakelines for early calipers are the same as later ones?

Early brake lines have a fitting on the end that screws directly into the caliper. Late style calipers use a banjo bolt. Someone on here used the late style lines with the banjo bolts on the early style calipers.

I just want to make sure my rear brake setup is stock. Here are a few pictures. This stayed the same throughout correct?

Yep, that rear caliper is stock. They're the same through all the years.
