Shift lever problem.

Shift lever eccentric bolt is snapped off. What causes that to happen? To much force shifting?

 

Ordered all the stuff to rebuild that part of it. A pro shift and a mull shift star.

 

Hopefully it'll be good to go for a while.

It's basically an old bolt. Think of how hard that gear lever has been smashed down over and over through the years. The thing you feel when it stops is that bolt. Get the old one out and grab a new one through a site sponsor. I'd say just call Jeff at fast and get a modded shaft and the new eccentric stuff. He mods the shaft for peanuts if he even does charge ya.

Can you explain the modded shift shaft ? What difference / feel does it make compared to stock?

Doesn't matter. Motor should've puked out whatever it doesn't need through the vent after it's first ride.

It adds just a touch more travel to the shifter so you can get a more positive feel as it rolls the shift star/drum over to the next gear.

Hmm seems like it wouldn't matter much on a modded star?

 

Hmm I'll wait on the shift shaft mod, all see how I like the pro shift and mull star first

When Jeff mods the shaft he also tweaks it so the pawl engages the pins a little further.

That caused problems on mine when I used the Mull star since it has longer pins.

Ya. That took some fine tuning on mine as well. The mull star seems to get along with the really soft detent spring with the shift pro.

Sweet, I was debating using the stock/stiffer spring with it.
