austin123sharon Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 My 4mill banshee has been rebuilt about 2 months ago. It is running 100% amazing. The best it ever has for the exception it seems to be smoking ALOT. It is white/ blue smoke and is more on the right side than the left. I am running 108 octane w/ 36:1 with 175 compression on both sides. I need an answer on this ASAP and if it is a bad crank seal is it safe to ride all weekend? And just check the oil every hour? I'm going to silver lake tomorrow. Thank you guys Quote
jriffe23 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Not safe to ride if its a crank seal. Be ready to rebuild again if you disregard this comment Quote
special06shee Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Are you losing coolant or trans fluid? That will help determine the problem. They always say, it runs the best before it flies apart. Quote
austin123sharon Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Yes trans fluid. God damnit Quote
austin123sharon Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Is there any way to check the seals? Quote
m671054 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 So its smoking white on the right side and your losing trans fluid but your not convinced it a bad seal? Quote

austin123sharon Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Tore down the motor and both cranks seals had a tear and o rings going around the cranks were broken as well... Good thing I tore it apart! New record for getting out a motor in 20min.. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 You handled this quick. It's always crazy how this shit happens right before a big trip/race. Quote
austin123sharon Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Yep! Should still be able to go. Do you have to break in crank seals like you would with rings? Quote
Leadmonster Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 So both seals blew and have a tear? Hmm 2 months old. Dont sound right to me. I guess the seals could have been just crap Quote
sleeper06 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Get good seals and O rings from fast next do you have access to anyone with a true stand to check crank premature seal failure happens for a reason just because you change parts doesn't mean you fixed problem make sure you pressure test that motor when done Quote
