Get a good service manual and break it down. It is a good experience.

do it yourself! 250R's are a peice of cake to rebuild. Make sure you check the lower rod bearing for side to side and up and down play when you have it apart. There is a spec for side to side between the thrust washers and rod.

Have a good quality bore job done (need piston first to do so), and put it together using ONLY OEM HONDA gaskets. other gaskets are junk and do not work as well, only use OEM Honda! Servicehonda.com can get you a complete upper and lower gasket kit for $35 so it doesn't pay to skimp here.

it would be great to do it myself, other than the fact that im not that illiterate with the tools that i would be needing. im just learning the basics of mechanics with my shee, so i was looking for someone to just get the 250r done for me. i live in newport but my bike and stuff is near corona and the whole inland empire. what do u guys suggest. who does a good job for just a basic rebuild

I could only recomend places in San Diego so im not sure, I believe all you need to rebuild it is a torque wrench (that can torque accurate to 5lbs increments), and some feeler gauges for checking the ring gap (and the crank while your at it) + the appropriate gaskets.

Its not as difficult as you might think.

I know of a guy in Corona, his name is Tiger (Tiger Racing) this guy knows everything about shee's, I've seen him build one up from the floor up. All my buddies go to him, I don't have any info with me right now, but I will get it.

I'm in costa mesa. As far as local stuff I'd stay away from 3 bros racing, Champion honda might cost an arm and a leg but Nick in the service department is a Real cool dude you might want to talk to him.
