camp0429
Just got a buddies bike back together, has a hard time starting. Needs choked every time and kicked about 10 or 12 times. Has FMF gold series power core silencers, shaved head not sure how much, 280 mains, 27.5 pilot, needle in middle, 120 on each cylinder, K and N filter stock box no lid. Good color on plugs runs good once it gets going. Carbs have been cleaned several times with detail each time. Each has been properly set. My question is should we try bumping up pilots? Is a biatch to start sometimes. Appreciate any help Oh and tank and petcock has also been cleaned
camp0429
That's why we tore it down new glow plugs and injectors
Surfrjag
maybe the carb bowls are swapped try checking compression too..
camp0429
Bowl with jet is on choke side, choke tube is on and compression is 120 both sides, slides are correct
Surfrjag
how much was the head shaved? have you checked the flywheel for rust or pickup gap?
camp0429
Not sure on how much head was shaved. We cleaned flywheel and set gap when it was going back together. Has a nice blue spark. Have replaced plugs and gapped them also. Cleaned frame ground spark is great. Also set floats. Not sure what else to check like I said it runs great just don't like to start too easy
hoppedupandcutdown
O-ring good on the choke plunger?
camp0429
Yep has brand new carb kits and choke rebuilt. Could it be such a thing that it just needs to "loosen" up? We took it down because somebody welded the front sprocket to trans shaft and was a little low on compression found it had vitos pistons and all measurements checked out so we put new rings and honed. Still followed proper break in. Might check the choke again though that's the only thing we haven't checked and rechecked.
camp0429
The reason I was questioning pilots is because it seems to have a low end bog but I don't know how it ran before
salmon_slayer06
I would go up 2 sizes on the pilots. It WILL start easier. But you may foul plugs easier when idling it too much on a hot day.

Larry's Shee
FMF's like 30 pilots. http://www.fmfracing.com/RiderSupport/JettingCenter Never heard that before, might have to try them too. I do know I fucked up the float level for two reasons, measured from the rib on the body instead of the flat, and wrong place on float. Caught that when i was taking winter jets out.
