Atomic Monkey Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I'm looking for intakes that will match up the best with VF4s using 34mm carbs, and still retain the crossover tube. I was looking at Upp, but want some opinions on what works the best, thanks! Quote
trickedcarbine Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 The UPP's seemed to do pretty well. My FAST intake was pretty nice. I have removed the cross hair. Quote
99michael Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) I'm browsing for some intakes too. But I'm worried about clearence on the clutch arm running the smartcarbs. , I seem these on eBay. No idea if they're any good or not. http://m.ebay.com/itm/321389342412?nav=SEARCH Edited July 5, 2014 by 99michael Quote
trickedcarbine Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Those are quite nice! Wish I bought those for the 4mm I just did for my buddy. The builder wanted individuals but he already bought the chariot. We epoxied the cross over section and re bored the angle inside the manifold. Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 I saw those as I was browsing around... too bad they're sizes for 35mm on up. Like Tricked said, FAST has some that look like they'd work well. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I use billet PD's. Lots of clearance on the clutch actuator arm with 35"s and D-A-J hoses running out the bottom of the bowl nuts. Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 Are there still clearance issues with the actuator arm using the UPP intakes? Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Are there still clearance issues with the actuator arm using the UPP intakes? All depend on what carbs you will be using. Few ways to get clearance in a bind.....bend arm down a bit, weld up the hole so there is no nut so the bowl is flush (yes people do it), tilt carb slightly. Or the gayest way, is 2 in 1. Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 My 35 PWK'S never hit with UPP's Neither do my Mikuni 41's It's the billet intakes that are the problem. Get the UPP. Quote

I ran/run upps. On my stock cylinders with my pwk35's, my bowl drain would hit the arm. I had to mill the nut down to get clearance. Now with my cub cyls., i have no clearance issues with upp. Quote
special06shee Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 But yes, get the upps. Worse case you will have to grind bowl drain nut down a bit Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 UPP it is then! I'll be running 34 PJs on a trail build, not sure how they'll do, but its nice the UPPs are a little cheaper. To begin with I'll be on Mikuni 28s because that's what I was running, and then switching. Hopefully I'll see an improvement! Thanks for the input guys! Quote
