sstaton1983
Correct me if I am wrong but your still gonna have to do it twice in order to check both as one piston is traveling down while the other is going up so it would still expose the ports on one cylinder possibly allowing the solder to drop in the exh port if you tried to both at once . That's what was going on with me.. so i did it one hole at a time... Part of me wanted to short cut but this shit is too expensive for short cutting.. sprinklerman
That is how i measured, I'm kind of thinking that when you torque down the head the o rings smash enough to nor really worry about. i measured with the o rings.. better safe then assuming.Probably true. We're not talking super tight tolerances. But I'm kind of o.c.d. Sent from a van down by the river
1CrazyBastard
I am a little ocd myself and this will be the first time I have checked squish so I want to be sure it's being done right and hopefully this thread will help some other people in the future . possum
ffs both sides ment both sides of piston at once. torque the head with orings. Either hold 2 pieces of solder in the same hole opposite side of eachother. ir just one on one side. inline with wrist pin. you guys are making this way to hard. without orings or being torqued will give you innacurrate readings
possum
If you cant fugure this out forget about measuring step, deck with calipers and feeler gauges.

I turn wrenches for a living and have probably built more engines in my day than you will ever see it's guys like you that give out wrong info that fuck these forums up for people .I have never checked squish on a banshee before and I want to be sure it is done properly . Send motor to builder of choice. They'll figure out everything and even out it together for you! The engine was just sent back to me from FAST with a squish of .058 Jeff said the domes may need to be changed due to the high squish but to try it first .I did and it seemed to lack some low end so I'm swapping domes but still want to check it "properly "
possum
GOD DAMN your a moron. I can tell you whats wrong with that diy but im done helping you. Do it however you want, So since you turn wrenches for a living means you know what your doing? So thats why you cant figure the squish out. haha cmon man you are the one asking here not me. Go ahead and follow the diy or send it back to fast or whatever. Couldnt care any less.
possum
And if you supposetly "build" engines everyday. why havent you just measured the deck height and step like I told you? Mr wrench turner.

sprinklerman
Bigger bore usually means a little bigger clearance. .but not always. Sent from a van down by the river

I have turned wrenches on 2 stroke and 4 stroke outboard engines for a long time and am known in my area to be one of the best .I never heard of squish before buying a banshee as we don't check it on outboards .I thought it was ok to ask questions on a forums but I guess you knew everything when you bought your banshee .So thanks
