sn95mustanggt Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 Hey guys as you see my post count im new! I know little about banshee building! I have two banshees right now both torn down and trying to make one fast! The bottom end that im using has a stock stroke crank hot rods brand. The pistons are 64.5mm. I have a cool head by pro design. The dome has 19 stamped on the side im assuming 19cc dish? One is bad so should i stick with this dish size? This is going to be a quad for mild dragging and some light trail riding. Question one: How can i tell if my hot rods crank is welded without a tear down? Question two: How far can you bore the stock cylinders? (to what mm piston) Question three: What octane fuel will i need to run with 19cc domes? Question four: What is the smallest dome i could safely run for high compression with what fuel? Any recomendations with my current set up? I have to get a dome and a piston so wondering if there is something different i shoud do with the setup. Anything helps thanks in advance! Quote
trickedcarbine Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 It sounds like you still have an open platform. To check that crank you should tear it down all the way. And to even start a build like you want I would suggest tearing it down anyway to freshen up any of the normal wear items. Also, don't bore that set of jugs chasing displacement in hopes of power. They can only go to 66 reliably and you won't see much gain in ruining cylinder life. As for the head set up, I would start calling some site sponsors and tell them what you want and they will get you domes for the fuel you want and your motor combo. Quote
sn95mustanggt Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 What is the route i should go to get the most power out of stock stroke? Quote
camatv Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 its like a broken record... complete tear down. only bore to what you need, not what your friends hot rod thats bored 30 over has get real porting get real pipes get big carbs get real domes get a billet basket get a timing advance something or other get a real clutch get a clutch pusher with a bearing on it for that real clutch get something done to the trans depending on far into " drag" your really going get good gaskets and seals build a leak down tester get real reeds use real good fuel or switch to alky whatever your budget is add 2500 and thats the real number + its going to cost. and thats just the motor!! camatv Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 oh also for actual answers to your questions. 1 you cannot reliably tell if its welded.. 2 you can bore stock cylinder to 80 over or 66mm i believe safely. with bigger sleeves you can bore to 70ish mm going over 68mm presents all kinds of problems all in its own. 3 with absolutely no other needed information given i would just say 110 straight. 4 you can run up to and over 210 kicking compression and probably higher with more exotic fuel blends. anywhere from 13-1 to 16-1 is common in alky motors.. does that make it run well well you didnt ask that these are just direct answers to the questions you asked Quote
sn95mustanggt Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 hey thanks! Thats exactly what i was looking for! Now if i were going to get some aftermarket cylinders so i could do a large bore with stock stroke. Could the oem carbs feed the fuel with proper jetting? Quote
joey83 Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 19cc domes are pretty high compression! Is there any porting.done to these pics?.If you dont know then post pics of cylinders. Dont go chasing displacement from your stock cylinders! Big bore stuff is 4 stroke business (to an extent). Why not sell the stock stroke hot rods crank and get a 4 mil. While youre at it, send those cylinders to Redline, Fast, or my fav Passion Racing! and get them ported and get some custom domes cut. 4 mil on stock ported cyl will run fine on stock carbs. Put some cpi's or whatever flavor you like and enjoy. Quote
sn95mustanggt Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 yes there is a lot of port work done. Stock carbs with tors tho. Quote
Atomic Monkey Posted January 27, 2014 Report Posted January 27, 2014 I read somewhere that the stock carbs can support up to 70hp. I'm still running stock carbs with a 4mil stroker, Pro Circuit pipes, and +4 on the timing. They're just rejetted, and have the tors removed. I'm in the middle of my first porting project, so we'll see how well they'll do when this thing breaths better Quote
