Jgspahn Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Is this supposed to be gapped? Its really really tight. Also.. how can I tell if the woodruff key on the flywheel is seated correctly when I put it on.. I meant it goes on there, but I cant see in there to be sure it didnt just push up or something. Quote
Jgspahn Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 Do I just bend it out? I didn't see an adjustment mechanism. Quote
lms1977 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 loosen the screws and slide it out some Quote
Thomas_S Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 There's a screw that will let you move it closer or farther away it should be right behind it or above. take a empty spark plug box and use the flap part of it to size the gap. Quote
Jgspahn Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 Thanks guys I really appreciate all the help. Quote
Strm Trpr Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Why are you messing with it? IIRC, it should be gapped to .019". Quote
Jgspahn Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 Why are you messing with it? IIRC, it should be gapped to .019". Messing with it cause I did a total rebuild.. crank true and weld.. cylinders ported.. head milled.. frame powder coated.. ss bolts.. advance timing plate etc.. so im putting it back together. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 18-19 thou. The business card thing is ok, but real feeler gauges get it perfect and allow you to see any variance between the two pick up points on the flywheel. If there is a heigh difference on the pick ups, file the higher one down so that they are uniform. Quote
Jgspahn Posted September 12, 2013 Author Report Posted September 12, 2013 I used a feeler gauge and got it pretty close. Thanks for the help guys. Quote
