Missing Front Engine Dowl Pen

So I split the cases on my dads banshee to change crank and notice no front dowl pen. Where can I get one? Can I get away without it?

I think they're a buck at the steelership.  I wouldn't put it together without the locating pins.  NFW.

Yes they are a locating pin. They center the case halfs and cylinders on the case. If they were a simple $1 non needed part Yamaha wouldn't have used them and saved the money for them self. I would get one.

yea if yamaha put it there it must be needed.

It is there to keep everything lined up. Other wise the case halfs could be put together out of alignment which would also cause un even pressure on the crank bearings.

I believe the side cover dowel is the same, use it to put the engine together and order a new dowel.

Just checked the part numbers. They're the same. Part# 99510-12016-00
