Juss11 Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 So I split the cases on my dads banshee to change crank and notice no front dowl pen. Where can I get one? Can I get away without it? 1 Quote
jayzx10r Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I think they're a buck at the steelership. I wouldn't put it together without the locating pins. NFW. Quote
jbooker82 Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 Yes they are a locating pin. They center the case halfs and cylinders on the case. If they were a simple $1 non needed part Yamaha wouldn't have used them and saved the money for them self. I would get one. Quote
fastforworddad Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 Google yamaha sports plaza they have the schematics with parts labeled and exploded views Quote
Finch Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 I'm missing one and not worried about it. Quote
possum Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 yea if yamaha put it there it must be needed. Quote
jbooker82 Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 It is there to keep everything lined up. Other wise the case halfs could be put together out of alignment which would also cause un even pressure on the crank bearings. Quote
notatallhappy Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I believe the side cover dowel is the same, use it to put the engine together and order a new dowel. Quote
Juss11 Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 Thanks guys for the info. I ordered one from the dealer but will see if the side cover dowl is the same for now. Thanks Quote
Starwriter Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Just checked the part numbers. They're the same. Part# 99510-12016-00 Quote
