shift star and shaft allignment?

so im having an issue where it feels like im not getting all my gears. is there a specific way the shift star needs to go before the shaft falls onto the star? or am i looking at something a little more serious?

ya wanna set it up exactly how he shows. and adjust the escentric screw untill there is a even gap from the claw to the bin on top and bottom.

nope, splines wont line up to get into next gear.. tore it down

The star can only go on shift drum one way because of dowel pin. Neutral is the star with the notch. Put your shift claw all the way in and adjust screw as Finch said. set case upright and put shift lever on and try shifting while hand tumbling the gear racks

why do my gears not synchronize?

That will always happen with the cases split, its hard to spin them by hand on the bench 100% perfect.

So your saying the lock up is normal till the engine is running?

You also have to adjust the eccentric stud until the two gaps between the pins are equal.

Are your shift forks in correctly?

If you only have a few gears, I'm betting that they aren't installed in the racks correctly.

yea i guess its a matter of "in the field" testing. the engine is put back together... god i hate doing the cylinder over the rings.
