Fourwheeler13 Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Hi all, Im looking into buying a banshee (never owned one before) and am wondering about what year to go with. The main difference I have been seeing on here is the J-arm/A-arm. I was wondering if one is better and what year they made this change. Also if there is anything else to look for, or if certain model years are better than others? Thanks, Neil Quote
tdod101 Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 If you got with a J arm suspension you can always buy an A arm conversion kit Quote

So Cal Suspension Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Here's a straight answer: 1987-1989 were J-arm frames. 1990+ were a-arms. This is a matter of personal preference, but as said before, aftermarket suspension for a-arms is much easier to come by. Throughout the years they changed some electrical plugs, tail light, frame and plastics colors, and rear shock. Other than that, nothing else has really changed. Obviously, the newer the bike you buy, ODDS ARE the less it's been used. Of course that is not ALWAYS the case, but if you had a choice over a 1992 or a 2006 for the same price, I would choose the 2006. Quote

James_21 Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Matt, didn't they make j-arm frames from 1987 to 1990, and a-arm frames from 1991 and up? Quote
Abe Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 my vote would be any 97 up as all the critical components such as the cdi and stator use the same connectors from 97-06 and the new style connectors are more plentiful. if you dont mind the occasional connector swap then it doesnt really matter as to what year you get 1 Quote
trickedcarbine Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 The 2013 is the best. Just have to buy all new parts. Or go to a showroom overseas. Quote
