turbowrenchhead Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 After I got new tires on it and went for a street run the basket blew. The old bald tires just started spinning. The backing plate and the gasket are junk as well. I went on ebay and there are several choices out there. No brand name. 2-3 weeks wait http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-YAMAHA-BANSHEE-YFZ350-CLUTCH-BASKET-Year87-06-/140893565241?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20cde93139&vxp=mtr Wiseco, unsure of what else I would need. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiseco-Clutch-Basket-Yamaha-350-Banshee-FITS-1987-2006-Banshee350-350-Banshee-/320858093554?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ab4a1f7f2&vxp=mtr Barnett, does it come with cushions and backing plate? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Barnett-Billet-Clutch-Basket-321-90-01006-Yamaha-YFZ350-Banshee-87-06-/180958777210?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a21fbcf7a&vxp=mtr Used vortex ready to bolt on. http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-YFZ-350-BANSHEE-VORTEX-CLUTCH-BASKET-MINT-FREE-DOMESTIC-SHIPPING-/380577804380?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item589c34705c&vxp=mtr I'm leaning toward the Vortex one due to the fact that I know its complete and I don't have to buy another backing plate, gaskets or cushions. The Wiseco and Barnett I think I might need extra parts. Quote
sheerider11 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 I'm a fan of vortex sprockets on my street bike. But Hinson, and east coast has a basket/clutch deal. Life time warranty. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 I've never used any of those. But I use a magnum billet basket. Has held up fine no wear on the fingers yet after 3 seasons, cheap it price. Grabbed it from Jeff. Probably can't go wrong with any billet basket. Since it blew apart, I would change your clutch, cushions and flush the trans out a few times with diesel, or if you're real anal, yank it apart and clean it out that way. Or did some fingers just break off? Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 What are we talking on price for Magnum or East Coast Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 It blew right in front of my driveway. The fingers broke off, there wasn't much debris. I was in first gear. It felt like it popped out of first and I came to stop and it wouldn't kick over. Then I knew something was up. Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 The east coast one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-BANSHEE-HD-BILLET-CLUTCH-BASKET-W-CLUTCH-KITDM-DMX-CHEETAH-WAMPUS-COUGAR-/350715557851?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51a846b7db&vxp=mtr Can't beat a lifetime warranty. Quote
ATVridinMaNiAc Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Curious how the east coast deal compares to a magnum basket and fast clutch kit from jeff. Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 I think the east coast one is over kill for my needs. Plus its much more expensive. I'm on a budget. Quote
04_blu_shee Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Ive got the Vortex in my Banshee comes with cushions backer plate fasteners good basket so far after 3 seasons no wear yet and it was very inexpensive compaired to the others Quote

It felt like it popped out of first and I came to stop and it wouldn't kick over. Then I knew something was up. Hey man. I would 1st find out WHY that basket went. Its kinda rare that the fingers would just snap off. Ive ran stock baskets on pretty hot 4mm stock cyls without problems. Yea they might groove over time, but fingers snapping off sounds like something else is up. Check the play in everything related to that clutch before shelling out $$$$ on a new basket only to overlook what caused it. Quote
springer Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 check out mattoon. really nice piece and they use a chromolly back plate and good cushions. but, that east coast setup is interesting, wouldn't mind trying it. Quote

Check the play in everything related to that clutch before shelling out $$$$ on a new basket only to overlook what caused it. I think I know why it went. The kick idle gear was missing the c clip. I think the idle gear cocked and then put tension on the basket. I can see teeth marks in the basket gear from the idle gear. I know I installed the c clip but I didn't find it in the debris. I ordered a new idle gear, washers and clip. Quote
