101Diesel Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 421 Cub drag ported, 20cc domes with 170 psi and squish at .055, Shearer sb in-frame, 39 pwk's on alky. I would like to pick up some more low to mid but don't want to run the risk of burning a strap or a hole in the piston. I dune the bike hard and then drag at banshee hill. Currently my timing is at +5, can I add more timing if I keep the power jets fat? Quote
n2otoofast4u Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Your half way to where it should be. Quote
Surfrjag Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 You can def run more timing Imo Quote
Turbo Chassis Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 agree with n2o....your almost half way there in my opinion...almost Quote
Jereme6655 Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 shit I think most of the alky guys on here are running up near 10* of timing if not a little more Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Bump it up a few at a time and check your tune each time you change. Quote
101Diesel Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 What tune do I want to avoid hearing? Quote

camatv Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 KAPOWW!!!!! thats the tune you want to avoid hearing.. alky with that much squish clearance you can peg a +12 plate no problem if the squish band is really wide you may have to back it off some Quote
101Diesel Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 Great, I don't want it pinging or sounding like marbles in a can because of detonation. I run for a lot longer distances then 300'. Builder recommends not going past 6 because of dunning it. He did set the squish wide and compression lower for that reason. So you guys are saying its not going to get to hot at +10? I read that every 4* of timing is about 2hp, and people prefer to advance timing over using a smaller dome. Is this in correct? Quote
101Diesel Posted January 18, 2013 Author Report Posted January 18, 2013 Hellz I run +10 on race gas. What size domes and squish? Quote
Paulie B Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 What size domes and squish? Stock 22cc dome, milled to 155 psi. 110 octane race gas Quote
