turbowrenchhead Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Got the motor in last night and both the expansion pipes are touching the head. I tried to manipulate the hangers to get them to clear but they don't. Anyone have an idea what I should do? Just leave them like that or perhaps a piece of material placed between the two metals? ric-ross1 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 By the picture it looks like the pipe is not in all the way with the exhaust chamber or whatever is called. Quote
hp2000 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 We had an old set of pipes that did the same thing. We had to mount them then pull on them to make them straight and fit correctly. Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Just stack washers between the pipe hanger and the frame and use a longer bolt to secure it. You have to do this with a lot of pipes, especially shearer pipes. Quote

spurdy Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 Yep, you just need to space the hangers out. I've got a 20mm spacer on one side for my shearers and a 12mm spacer on the other. Washers will work, but it isn't hard to come up with a nice stainless steel spacer to clean the look up a bit. SP Quote

Mount the header pipes and with the stingers off grab the back of the header pipe and with a steady pressure pull outward until you get the clearance need! Fuck washers! They are a pain in the ass!
