Race gas in Glamis

Hey guys, it has been awhile since I have spent much time here (other hobbies have taken over), but I was hoping someone may be able to provide some info. We are heading to Glamis Saturday for 2 weeks, and I am trying to figure out where to get race gas. I have heard that you can not purchase 110 in CA anymore unless heading to a sanctioned race. I have also heard of the rangers grabbing your race gas as you enter the dunes.

 

Anyone have any first hand experience, or know where to purchase it down there? In the past I would just bring down a few cans for my bike, but I am now running a turbo'ed sand rail in addition to the Banshee, so gas will go fast.

 

Any info you can share is appreciated...thanks.

Never heard of such a thing. I know you can walk into Off Road Warehouse or any other motorsport place and walk out with as much race gas as you want. I heard something about them trying to do the sanctioned race thing, but I've never actually met anyone who has had a problem purchasing it at all.

 

Last season I'd pull in with a 55gallon drum of VP on the trailer and the rangers never blinked an eye. I'm pretty sure the Texaco in Brawley still sells it at the pump. I think it's F&L.

Matt is correct texaco has it run ya about 40 bucks a 5 and also Arco sells it

The only thing I could see with the Rangers taking gas would be if it was in a Utility Style jug, instead of an approved gasoline can. Those fuel jugs are now called utility jugs because they are illegal for for fuel use, even though they are made out of fuel safe material.

I've heard that the "utility" jug is only illegal for fuel if the hose is attached, and that it can be used to carry fuel with the cap on it. Anybody heard anything like that?

I have a red one like this. And also two white ones rangers in dumont said red was legal and whites where not difference is white ones have a auto vent red doesn't

Their starting to do that here too. Red for gas, yellow for diesel, and blue for kerosene. Bunch of shit imo.

I guess tell them that it is windshield wiper fluid in your clear can if you run a colored race fuel.

I was going to say yellow is suppose to be diesel and blue is kerosine.
