LanceG60 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Share Posted October 11, 2003 I have a cool head with 19cc domes, 2 to 1 pipe, air filter, boost bottle, stock carbs, who knows how its jetted...i bought it this way like a week ago and I'm getting all the bugs out of it. But I was talking to a atv mechanic and he said if I have 19cc domes I should be running nothing but race gas even if I mix it 50/50 or I'm gonna blow the thing up? True? He referred me to a shope that they compete with that actually sells race gas so it wasnt him just trying to sell something. What do you guys think? dragbanshee02 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Share Posted October 11, 2003 I was running 18 cc domes and running premium pump gas and it ran fine it ran like that for 2 years wtihout a problem basicly the rule of thumb is anything over 160-165 psi for compression needs to be on some kind of race gas or mix anything under that is safe on pump gas i was running 165 psi ineach cylinder and i did not have a problem but i was pushing pupm gas to its limit find out what your comprression is and go from there. dragbanshee02 Posted October 11, 2003 Report Share Posted October 11, 2003 it depends on your compression not on your altitude do a compression test and let me know what it is if it is under 160 then you are fine like i said i am running 18cc domes and i am at 400-500 ft. above sea level elevation does not make a difference its is you rcompression that determines what fuel to run. Blue Duece Posted October 11, 2003 Report Share Posted October 11, 2003 your compresion changes with altitude.......if you were at 165psi at 5000 feet running pump fuel and droped to sealevel on pump fuel youd be around 185 and smoke your bike.....but you should allways do a comprssion check..elevation has everything to do with compression..... I WAS running 93 and 18cc(which require race fuel at my elevation) domes b/c I didn't know too much about domes when I bought the shee and the dude ran race fuel in it.... Well long story short, one week after purchase my motor went KABOOM!!! I'm right around 800ft elevation and now I run 93 on 20cc domes. This is why I check the elevation on the place I'm going to ride at for a weekend trip. There is one place I ride and the elevation is 575ftabv. sealvl. and I've run 5tanks of 93 there :?: BTW: Duece I sprayed some gizum on the bushings and smeared some grease on the seals like you said and the squeaking cleared up.
