bansheecaptain Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 I got two jerry cans full of racing fuel and premixed with amsoil interceptor oil. How long you think it will keep before it losses its octane level Quote

Finch Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 i wont go over a month and thats with pump Quote
HiRoller Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Not sure about race gas, but I get rid of 91 octane premix by dumping it in my truck a gallon or two per full tank. Quote
Banshee Chad Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 10 yrs. Gas doesn't go bad. I leave fuel in the snowblower all year, and it still works. Shit, thing sat in a shed for 8 yrs, changed plug, topped off gas and fired it up. Quote
Finch Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 chad after so long it will start to turn into gel most things willl still run it but would you really run in it a suped up motor? (not ur stock shee) Quote
Methfireroad Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Fuel has a one month shelf life befor it starts to break down. The gas now a days sucks compared to 10 years ago. To many additives Quote
5150banshee Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Add some stable to it I do that on my boat before I store it and before every summer thee ol big block chevy fired right up top her off with 100 octane and good to go Sent using Tapatalk Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 I ran some 1.5 year old Sunoco 110 with Bel Ray H1R. Seem to run fine for the short time I rode it. I did end up dumping the fuel and cleaning the carbs before we went to the dunes last week. It was sealed up in a VP Fuel Can, and it did have about 5 oz of Sta Bil. Quote
Banshee Chad Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Idk man... Never had gas gel. Diesel when its -20 Quote
bansheecaptain Posted November 7, 2012 Author Report Posted November 7, 2012 yea it will be sitting about 3-4 months . and i need to run high octane fuel becuase of set up . i think ill just donate it to the gf car Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 yea it will be sitting about 3-4 months . and i need to run high octane fuel becuase of set up . i think ill just donate it to the gf car If it's leaded race gas, you won't want to put that in your GF's car. It can clog the converter. But more importantly it can very quickly coat the O2 sensor and leave her with a car that runs like shit. (Maybe save it for an ex-GF. LOL) Race gas also doesn't like florescent lights. I've got a boatload of florescent lights in my shop and the UV from them will break down gas in clear and plastic containers. It took me a while to figure out why I was having issues with fuel going bad, but if you store your fuel in a sealed metal container...it will last till next season. Any jug where the fine mineral spirits can evaporate out will leave you with fuel with a lower potency. (fuel can outgas thru plastic jugs.) Topping off tanks in a snowmobile cuts down on the space available for the fuel to outgas and loose it's potent vapors. But after 6 months in a tank (especially with a vented cap)....the fuel won't be all jelled up and neither will your carbs. But the fuel will be down on potency. I drain all float bowls and tanks in the off season and store the fuel in spare metal 5 gallon VP cans. Quote
Methfireroad Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Steve o that was a good c16 fire. But the one in Solon was bigger. We might have to try to top both of those Quote
special06shee Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 I wouldn't think twice about running pump fuel that sat for a couple months! Done it before plenty of times and never had a problem! Quote
