RACxEMxWILLIE Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 Let me explain, i just bought a 03 banshee from a guy who didn't exactly take care of it. Engine runs fantastic, but cosmetically, it looks horrible. The foot peg bolt holes have been completely de-threaded and ruined thanks to his half-assed effort in putting on the nerd bars. The air box lid was removed and the rear coolant reservoir is zip-tied down. There a few other half assed rigs as well. What i was thinking doing, is buying a full bare frame and swap over everything from this one. I found a website with all of the OEM bolts and such, but i was wondering if it worth doing it. If anyone has ever done this, let me know how the experience worked. Thanks. Quote
yzrmbsg Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 Why not just rebuild the one you have? cheaper that way. You dont need the coolant res, you can re-thread the peg mounts. Get yourself a bolt kit, and put her back together the right way! Sent using Tapatalk! Quote
DirtDiggler69 Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 I second that , just strip it down and start with the frame . Repair any stripped threads , clean it , PC it and start putting it back together . What you will pay for a roller will equal what the PC will cost you . And odds are you won't like what your roller looks like either . Quote
Jereme6655 Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 And you would also have to re-title your bike because the VIN numbers are on the frame tubes. Quote
troyzstang Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 I have a custom set up for stripped out pegs. Just cut out old material , insert new plugs , weld in place and your good to go. Works perfect. Tick Tock ( Adam) was nice enough to make two sets for me. Troy Quote
mike0chek Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 sounds like rebuilding that bike will be enough work, i would ditch the new frame idea Quote
sheerider11 Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 Work with what you have, a couple of stripped bolts ain't a big deal. You'll save money and know that you really did build it from the ground up. Quote

It will fly. Its just the halfassed job the guy did cosmetically that pisses me off, especially swapping the plastics. Quote
