cant start my shee

Recommended Posts

hi guys hoping you can help me out i recently bought a banshee, toomey tr6's, v force reeds, modified air box, stock carbs and head. when i had the bike delivered it rolled off the back of the truck and started first kick, went out for a ride and the bike felt as if it had good power, rode for about half a day with the bike starting on first/second kick until i shut the bike off for half hour. when i got back on the bike and tried to kick it it wouldnt start. so the next day i got the bike out and replaced the plugs, bike started after about 40 kicks and then would start fine until cold and im back to square 1. i noticed that when the bike was running the left cylinder smoked less than the right and not at the same rate, however the left hand exhaust got red hot, hotter than the right.

so anyways i got the bike in the garage pulled the carbs reeds and exhaust, t.o.r.s. has been removed, got 2 carb rebuild kits stripped the carbs cleaned out and blew them out with air, installed the rebuild kit and set the floats to 21mm i believe, stock needles on middle clip, stock pilot jet, 300 main jet. i replaced the gaskets on the reed block to intake as they were a bit shot, you could see a few tiny specs of light coming through the carbon fibre of the v force reeds (will this greatly affect the bike ?). i also took off the coil cleaned the connections up and put 2 brand new ht leads in with new ngk caps, brand new air filter and plugs again. still no joy, i expected the bike to start right up thought it could have been the carbs made sure they were super clean, ive got big fat blue sparks from both plugs, and the plugs are wet with fuel. forgot to mention i did a compession test both cylinders were around the 115 mark, carbs are in sync and slides installed correctly and the crossover tube is in place between the carbs.

dont know if im missing something the bike does not want to start at all i would apprciate any help or someone to point me in the right direction as im mega confuesd now lol.

thanks guys

How did you sync the carbs of the bike don't run?

i synced the carbs by watching the slides move up and down and adjusted the screws on top of the caps until the slides moved up in sync, bikes got fuel spark and compression but wont start at all now

ive tried to start with the choke in all positions, bike is probally flooded after trying to start it for so long yes, but if the plugs are wet with fuel with good spark and 115 compession surely it should fire up before it gets to that point, i really dont know what to look at next, would seeing the specs of light through the reeds cause this problem ? could the case be full of fuel ? usually on a 2 stroke machine i can solve a problem through process of elimination ie. spark fuel etc. but the bike has me stumpted guys

Are you holding the throttle open at all when your kicking it? When I first got my bike I didn't think that the choke was working right but then I realized you just can't give it any gas when kicking it.

when the bike was running im sure it didnt need no gas it would just kick over, ive tried to start the bike with the throttle in various positions with no joy :(
