bansh_88 Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Does anyone know if it is recommended to apply a product such as Yamabond or ThreeBond flexible liquid gasket to carburetor boots to help prevent air leaks? I remember reading this somewhere online, but cannot find it again to verify. Is this a good idea to prevent air leaks from the carburetor boots? Thanks!! Quote

Thanks!! i have put some threebond on (2) of my intakes between the boots and intake to seal up leaks. dont see why it would be a problem. now, i can see where using a sealant that is not impervious to gasoline would be a problem. zach45 Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 I put a bit on all my gasket surfaces... Provides a great seal.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

zach45 Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Would be a mess to clean when you pull your carbs off... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
DirtDiggler69 Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I'm going to be re-assembling my motor soon , I have done the same on my blaster using the high temp copper rtv for the intake components , as said I didn't see a need to put any on the boot itself for the carb . Is it ok to put a thin film of it on the base gaskets on a shee? And how about the head gasket? Is there a best choice head gasket to use ? My blaster used a copper head gasket , What would be my best bet option to seal the head and avoid coolant leaks ? Quote
Poolman Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I got the 3.5 oz Hondabond 4 at the Honda stealership for $6.59 / tube yesterday. I was quite Happy.. Quote
jrmarquez.702 Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I tried 1211&1194 (three bond) on my intakes and it worked great..... The only problem was getting that crap off without destroying my vf3's, now I use ultra black on the intakes and it's not as messy and doesn't turn rock hard..... Quote
bluebanshee98 Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I used the yamabond on both sides of the gaskets and at thev top of the bolts that hold the read cages and intake boots on. Works great Quote
