03crawldaddy Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 I don't like type f either, or any atf in a transmission like this unless it calls for it. I try to run a quality oil in all my stuff. we normally have a lot of synthetic 15w-40 or 5w-40 around cause that's what we run in all the trucks. Some people say not to use synthetics in these cause it will make the clutches no good and slip, but I've never had a problem with any of my bikes. Ever heard of that? I'm not arguing the fact you shouldn't run a good oil. I just never heard of such a short change interval. Every 6 rides? Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 ATF type F here. Used it with my Override and slingshot for 2-3 years now. I will continue. Quote
J-Madd Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 Type F is all I run. I don't know if it breaks down, but I believe it's less effective at suspending (remnant clutch fiber) particles than regular motor oil. That's just my theory as to why it has to be changed more often. Quote
badbanshee509 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Report Posted July 18, 2012 so i should do a oil change every 15 freakn rides? running type f at this point in time, dats ridiculous, whats a reasonable but great oil to use in my semi race quad that i dont have to worry about as much as type f??????? Quote
BigRed350x Posted July 19, 2012 Report Posted July 19, 2012 Ive been running atf for about 10 years now. No problems here, buti dont abuse my clutch like some do. Quote
