ATVridinMaNiAc Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Me and my dad are wanting to paint the frame and a few parts with some thick tractor paint using a gun, that paint is so nice and thick, if it holds up like it does on the tractors he paints it will do awesome on the banshee, hell usually he doesnt even prep and the shit still stays on forever. So i figure if i take the time to prep stuff good and spray it with a gun then id expect it to work pretty well. Quote

Yeah, I can't decide whether to prep really good and spray with quality HOK products nice and thick, and end up with enough to do it again when it starts looking chitty or to go through the headache of sandblasting and powdercoating it. I would think paint would hold up real good on a frame. My black painted frame still looks great. Frames don't seem to get hit with too much imo, until your carelessly wrenching on stuff. And I agree with some tough tractor paint lasting a long time, or rustoleum with hardener. Hopefully HOK stuff is as tough as I want it to be. To think of it, we painted kart frames and raced them dirt oval relentlessly with good results. IDK i don't think quality paint gets the credit it deserves sometimes Than again i just don't feel like sandblasting my frame.... Edited September 3, 2012 by kessig4x4 Quote

Bad one ton Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 PC all the way. It will last a lot longer. I just had my frame and Swing arm powdered. TON! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 What ever your choice may be, the key to a successful and durable job lays more in the prepwork than the surface coat. Spend the extra effort to ensure a proper foundation for your paint/PC and it should last you. Quote

tecate3matt Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 I personally use a paint on all my bikes. I never claim that any of my bikes are show machines but they usually come out decent and if it chips/scratches I just paint it up. Granted I always detail my bikes before and after I ride them which usually lengthens the paints life and keeps it niceish. If you willing to fork over the $$$ powdercoating is always awesome and I'd say last 10x longer then rattle can. In my opinion if your trailing the bike and want to enjoy it on a budget rattle can it and go at it dude. In the end dude its up to you and whatever fits your budget. Quote
tecate3matt Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 bike I'm building that I rattled canned. Quote
