Cold weather jetting (-5 to -15 F)

Hey,

 

I need some serious help on jetting right now...Winter is here and I wanna get fun! Engine is freshly rebuilt and I currently run 270 mains, with 27.5 pilots. Rest of jets are stock size, 2 1/4 turns on air screws.

 

Modifications are airbox with K&N filters no lid, Pro Circuit SS Pipes, stock 26mm carbs, shaved stock head, 65mm oversized pistons, 40:1 mix and timing plate is set at +4 ....

 

Thing is i'm still running too rich...

 

And here's something else I can't figure out. I start the engine, REV IS WAY TOO HIGH, as much as the engine gets hot, rev goes down and engine finish by cutting off. Spark plug blown.... On cylinder 1 only.

 

Help me! I love my banshee but this is pissing me off...

I tried jetting with the Banshee Digital Toolkit but it doesnt seem to be working...

 

I'm sure someone can help me with this....

what side is the brown plug on?

Brown (but still a little too dark) plug is on the RIGHT side...

if the left side plug is white you have an air leak, did you replace crank seals when you rebuilt? did you do a leak down test?

No air leak.

 

Left plug is too rich and right plugg seems fine but then again...

try richening up the airscrews? are you sure you have everything set the same on both carbs? and in sync,

Sounds to me like you have an air leak. You should be at least 270 mains in these colder temperatures.

Check your carb boots with the corresponding cyl. That is lean...
