acroadam Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 I'm going to the dunes in a couple weeks, and I run no lid air box, k&n filter. Since i will be going to the dunes, do I need to get an outerware? Thanks, Adam. Quote
Dicklez Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 I would. But I think the main goal of the outwear is to repel water. Still good to keep on. I ran it when I was up at sliver lake. Better to have a $12 dollar outer wear on than rebuild a motor. Quote
Chevy4life32 Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Yes you do. Without it, the filter would get so covered in sand and sand would get into the carbs and engine. I rode mine with the lid on once and it was a k n and no outwears and sand got into the intake, carbs and cylinders. Run a outerwears and you should be good. Quote
acroadam Posted October 12, 2011 Author Report Posted October 12, 2011 What about using a panty hose? Quote

I dont get it, If sand gets thru a K&N dust must go thru it like it is not even there? I run a K&N with outerwear should i only use this for sand and change to a foam filter for dusty conditions?? Hubcap Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 I would recommend using a foam filter. Everytime I've gone to the dunes and used a K&N's with outerwears it always let sand into the engine. My set up has no Air box though. Quote
