I'm going to the dunes in a couple weeks, and I run no lid air box, k&n filter. Since i will be going to the dunes, do I need to get an outerware? Thanks, Adam.

I would. But I think the main goal of the outwear is to repel water. Still good to keep on. I ran it when I was up at sliver lake. Better to have a $12 dollar outer wear on than rebuild a motor.

Yes you do. Without it, the filter would get so covered in sand and sand would get into the carbs and engine. I rode mine with the lid on once and it was a k n and no outwears and sand got into the intake, carbs and cylinders. Run a outerwears and you should be good.

I dont get it, banghead If sand gets thru a K&N dust must go thru it like it is not even there? I run a K&N with outerwear should i only use this for sand and change to a foam filter for dusty conditions??

I would recommend using a foam filter. Everytime I've gone to the dunes and used a K&N's with outerwears it always let sand into the engine. My set up has no Air box though.
