Mister T
Been having a issue with the washer and clip on the idler gear that lays behind the clutch pack Twice now after taking the clutch cover off, I have found the clip and washer in the bottom of the side case Anyone had similar problems and how did you overcome it ? Do I risk damaging things when that comes off ?
lms1977
I'm pretty sure you need to replace the bushing in the idler gear you can get a steel one and press it in.
DuneBooZeR
The clip might be dunzo. Order a new clip, washer, and bushing for it. See if that fixes it.
BigRed350x
Replace your idler gear, the keyed washer, non-keyed washer and c-clip. When the idler gear bushing goes bad they wobble and tear shit up. Hit up Kevin at HJR. He can hook you up with all the parts you need. Larry's Shee
Or you can do like P O did and use a Presidential solution and weld the washer to the shaft N F C how I'll ever fix that properly when the time comes X-2 on proper fix. locogato11283
You need all new parts for that.. Washer - Bushing - Keyed washer - Clip I wouldn't even rick riding it until it's fixed. That clip and washer can cause major damage if it gets sucked into the clutch basket.

Do I risk damaging things when that comes off ? When mine came off I had to replace the idler gear, clutch basket, drive gear on crank and the water pump gear. My clip went between the gears and damaged them all, it was making a clicking noise. If your gear is in good shape, I would get a steel bushing from FAST, along with all new washers and snap ring and put it together making sure the snap ring groove on the shaft is in good shape so it will stay on. If the shaft is bad you will either have to weld it on or split the cases and replace the shaft. The latter is the proper way to do it.
