blubyyou Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 I currently have PWK 35 Air Strikers on my bike with Pro Circuit pipes....long story short the left side is right up against my pipe at the top of the carb cap along with the vent hoses on that side. The fuel line is on the pipe too but I pulled it down with a zip tie to keep it away from the pipe. I also used heat tape to wrap the vent lines and fuel line. If I tilt the carb in a little at an angle it gives me a little clearance. Will this hurt anything or performance by tilting the carb in a little? Thanks. Quote
SkinInd_Banshee Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 IMO it should be a ok to tilt it a little Quote
donkeypuncher Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 I have the same problem with my 33mm pwk's. I just tilt the carb away from the pipe a little. I don't see why it would hurt anything. Quote
blubyyou Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 good deal...thanks for the replies. I just didn't want to melt down a top end due to some fuel problem as a result of tilting a carb a little. Quote
blubyyou Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 That was what I was afraid of. I guess I will just heat tape them up really good and run them straight up the way they were designed to be installed. Like I said I don't want to cause a fuel issue and you described exactly what I was thinking could happen if I did tilt it in a little. Thanks for the advice. Quote
Hooptiee Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Can you gain any clearance by adding a shim or spacer between the exhaust hanger and frame to bring your exhaust out a little. Quote
patsbansh Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Cascade innovations offers heat wrap sleeves for exhaust it is insulated i run them on my exhaust with my cub motor with 34's my carbs are straight up. i agree with the floats being off comment. fuel is the last thing you wanna rob these motors of. Hope this helps Quote

I'd have to have my bike pinned in 6th for a looong time before my bowl ran dry. The amount it's tilted I don't think will have a big enough effect to ever run them dry with normal riding. Plus, it's either tilt it or let my carb top grind the shit out of my pipe clamp... Quote
blubyyou Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 I may be ok since I mainly trail ride and rarely tap out 6th gear. I don't think I'd run them dry since I usually am wide open for a brief while. Mostly on and off the throttle. Quote

blubyyou Posted June 28, 2011 Author Report Posted June 28, 2011 I have came to the conclusion that I'm gonna run them straight up. I'm gonna use some heat wrap that was suggested to me. I don't like the idea of running out of fuel. I have already shimmed out the exhaust as much as possible. I believe this will resolve my problem. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. Quote

No problem man, one more suggestion is to get a different set of pipes, expecially since you have a ported 4mill Banshee. CPI pipes have the clearance in the stinger tubes. Quote
blubyyou Posted June 29, 2011 Author Report Posted June 29, 2011 I thought the Pro Circuits were the pipe of choice on a woods/ mx shee?! I'm not opposed to to trying a set of CPI's just as long as they suit my riding style/ setup. I just don't want to turn this shee into a purely top end machine. Yes I realize its a banshee and yes that's what they're designed for but I'd still like to keep it woods/ xc friendly if that makes sense. I'm sure the PC pipes are holding it back a little on the top but i do like the pull it has with them...although I've never been on a banshee with CPI's so I have no way to compare other than reviews and comments on BHQ. If someone could give me an honest oppinion on CPI's vs. PC's on my setup I may look into the switch ( here goes getting my jetting perfect again---start all over lol). Open to all opinions on this pipe with my combo and goals for my quad. Thanks----- Quote
volcrano Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 cpi pipes arent even in the equation for u.stay far far away.they are a drag pipe, made for top end only really.u will be so pissed at urself if u got these lol.keep the pcs for ur riding, they are the best.i had cpis in the woods and my hand was ready to fall off from all the clutching, and thats on a agg.trail/dune ported 4 mil.dont get me wrong for drag, they were insane.but ur not dragging.also,if u cant remedy the tilting, instead of pipes,u might want to look into smaller carbs.smaller carbs will be better for ur riding style and bottom end performance without sacrificing too much top.a 28 0r 30mm tops would be stellar.big carbs are good for top end and nice throttle response, well the flatslides are known for crisp response. blubyyou Posted June 30, 2011 Author Report Posted June 30, 2011 that's what I thought about the CPI's ---an awsome pipe, but not for my riding style. I think I'm good on my carb clearance. I just about have it dialed in perfect I believe. Gonna go do a little testing in the next week or two with some jetting and I should be good to go. Thanks for all the help everyone!! Quote
