FMF fattys trouble after install

Recommended Posts

So i got a sweet deal fmf fatty gold series with power core 2 silencers. The guy i bought them from said he ran stock jetting with no problems. I have jus the pipes, stock carbs, stock foam filter with outerwear stock box with lid and snorkel. Elevation roughly 1200 above, temps about 40-80. From what i have gathered i feel a good starting point is 27.5 pilots and 290 mains. I kno someone will say search and i have i didnt find anyone with my elevation and as stock as I am! Well thanks guys in advance

Oh forgot i ran it for awhile ran great then after i parked it now it dont. It idles ok but thats all dont take throttle unless u give quick braps to build rpm then it will rev smooth. Sorry im a compleye newb to jetting guys and im lost

Sounds like you need to clean the carbs and use fresh gas. I always use sta-bil in my gas also. How long has it been sitting and are you running the old gas from when you parked it?

We ride at sea level and my wife's bike runs Fattys, Toomey 2:1 K&N filter with a 27.5 pilot and 300 mains, her old bike with the same setup ran 290 mains and 27.5 pilot.

So did you run it with stock jets? How long? X-2 on carb clean and fuel. Other than unported 4mil and lower elevation I'm starting in 300-320 range with same pipes when I put them on.

Larry i ran for 15 minutes maybe with stock jets it seemed great, had power low mid and high good powerband too

I will clean carbs carb this wknd, do the jets seem good to start with what i said..

Well after a frustrating day of diagnosing problems that didnt exist i overlooked the simplest of them all! I had a dead plug on the right cylinder. I took carbs out which had stock 200 mains in. I replaced with 220's kept the pilot @ 25 i synced carbs and adjusted the floats on right carb cuz one was bent down. Rode for about 45 minutes idles great revs smooth low-hi, and hits powerband great!!! Plugs look good to me. I jus found some 240 mains in my tool box i may end up slappin in. I need to rid myself of the damn TORS, makes jetting take 3x longer then it should

They vary by dealer im told, mine had 200's from stock i know nothing on the bike was ever touched before. I might try the 240's tmrw but i got the shits of takin the carbs off. With the problems i been havin i had the rights side carb off prolly 6 times today
