bigtizzles Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I just rode my shee for the first time today with the T5 exhaust kit. It ran amazing, plugs looked perfect. My friend had a brand new yfz 450x that just had its first break in oil change. I smoked it no problem. Anyway that was my first big mod, and now i'm looking at a cheriotperformance cool head. I was wondering what size domes I should get to still run on pump gas and also what brand. We are at 4200 feet elevation. Will I have to jet the bike after this mod? I used the "perfect jet kit" from toomey so i'm running 270 mains. I could probably do a little better cause these are for 2500 ft and up. Not too precise. I'm officially addicted. Quote

No you won't have to re-jet with a cool head. I'm at 5000 feet elevation and I run 19CC domes on pump gas with no issues. I have no experience with the Chariot head but heard they are good. I've always ran a Noss head. Something else that would help your banshee is a adjustable timing plate set at +4. Its a well $50 spent. Where are you from? Quote

bigtizzles Posted March 7, 2011 Author Report Posted March 7, 2011 I'm in the Airforce and we are at Clovis NM, its around 4300 feet.. I like the chariot heads cause of the price and they use stock studs and give you nice acorn nuts for free. I might look into doing the DIY timing mod in the stickies. I heard 20cc is good on stock motor. Quote

bigtizzles Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 The most octane you can get anywhere around here is 90 (I guess because of the elevation???). They have 91 on base, but I find it hard to believe they truck special gas with one more octane to base from far away. Its probably just the pumps labeled wrong. I get the gas on base for peace of mind anyway. So would 19cc domes still work with shitty gas, or should I go with 20cc? Quote

Burt Reynolds Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Maybe your guys elevation makes a huge difference but if i ran my banshee here at 800ft elevation with 18 or 19cc domes and 90 octane the motor might just explode with detonation. Quote

bigtizzles Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 So the banshee had 23cc domes stock right? If I just wanted the cool head for the "cool" benefits, then I would just run 23cc domes then, right? And if I moved somewhere else I would just swap out the domes for my new elevation? Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 buying a cool head and putting 23cc domes in it seems like a waste to me. 20's at the biggest. Quote
Sandfrk33 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Ran 21's in mine for years with no issues. Not a huge difference, but noticable and safe. I really like the chariot heads. Can't beat them for the price Quote
amont21987 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Where is it that you guys get these chariot cool heads from I haven't been able to find the website that sells them Quote
06specialedition Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Where is it that you guys get these chariot cool heads from I haven't been able to find the website that sells them EBAY is going to probably be the best to get any Chariot parts. Heres a link for a cool head: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Banshee-Head-PLAIN-use-pro-noss-domes-Cool-/230504081897?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ab1d29e9#ht_618wt_937 Quote
