jason108 Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 hello I was just wondering if anyone had tried out a wiseco crank and or if there are any better than the hotrods cranks that everyone is sayin are junk lol any info would be great thanks.. Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 i personally run hotrods cranks in both my bike and the girlfreinds. Both are 4 mill and had no problems. As far as the wiseco cranks, i dont know much about them, i could be wrong but i do believe or at least they did run hotrods rods on them. If i was to buy a new crank today id check out andy at m&m's cranks Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Papa, are you using stock hotrods bearings on yours? Has there been any additional welding on the pins? Just curious because I'm rockin all hotrods stuff. I might upgrade the bearings some day though. To the OP, hotrods cranks are a big contendor. Obviously there will be a few that fail. Maybe the bearing support on the cases were out-of-round causing bearing failure? Incorrect install, too much overrev/abuse.... Quote

Just running the bearings that come on the cranks on both bikes, was told by two site sponsors that the bearings on the cranks were fine for what we were doing, and that hotrods welding from factory was sufficent! Now next time i have her down for something ill probably go ahead and upgrade to the maxload and tz bearing, it may be overkill but id rather have a little more piece of mind, but for now no problems knock on wood. (i think the site sponsors know what there talking about though so that gives me piece of mind lol). Cody Quote

gotta_goatsfast Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Jeff Wendorff @ FAST racing said upgrading the bearings and additional welding were not necessary for my build. It's a 421 serval. But I'm kind of a hypochondriac with motors. Sometimes when one person has an issue I start to get a little paranoid. lol Quote

Its holding up well! Quote
jbooker82 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I would run a Hot Rods crank over a wiseco. The only people I have herd say Hot Rods was junk are people who " Herd" they were junk. There are plenty of people running Hot rods cranks with 90 hp cub cylinders with no problems. The only issue with Hot Rods is people say the 4 mill crank needs a stronger weld. The stock stroke hot rod crank isnt welded. Quote
jason108 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 What about the vitos performance cranks have you heard anything about those ? they come already trued and welded and look like a good crank. Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Search for Vito's crankshafts. You'll see plenty of reviews. Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 so the hotrods 4 mill cranks come welded? i never knew that. i wonder if i would need a stronger weld if i went with a cub? Quote
jbooker82 Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Most guys have the 4mill rewelded to help insure it doesnt twist. Hot Rods 4mill comes welded and the stock stroke doesn't. I would have some one do an extra weld. Quote
