sangheraent Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 I was looking at ebay and saw what looks exactly like oko carbs but they say keihin on them? I run 30mm okos and I have real pwks on all my other bikes and I know for a fact these look 100xs more like my okos then the pwks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Keihin-PWK-28-racing-carburetor-repair-kit-main-jet-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20b610cf1fQQitemZ140493508383QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote
jbooker82 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 I guess they look like keihin pwk 28's to me. Why do they not look like real Keihin's to you? Quote
sangheraent Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 oh dont get me wrong they look like pwk 28s. but I think they are built with cheap parts like the oko carbs. the biggest tip off to me is the idle screw, pwks dont have that particular screw they have a bigger one. Quote

I was reading somewhere a few months ago, I don't remember where, and can't vouch for it's accuracy, but I read that there are Keihin casting "seconds" that were supposed to be sold as scrap out there somewhere. Numbers into the thousands. It's quite possible these are them and were assembled using the same lower quality components like the OKO's. Some of the casting flaws might be nothing serious, but who knows? I say save the headache, and buy OKO's, or Keihins that aren't sold at 1/4 the price. There's a reason they're that cheap. Quote
Darthwall Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 this looks like another case of old un wanted factory castings going to other parts of the world its like the 300 dollar mini motorcycles being sold with honda atc 110 castings Quote
jbooker82 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Yea they do look like keihin seconds. Look at the air filter side of the carb. It is all chewed up around the air screw intake passage. I would pass and get some real keihins. If it isnt good enough for keihin to sell it isnt worth the headach to make it right. Quote
camatv Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 the slides looklike total shit. i cannot stress enough to look for the ones with chrome plated slides. Quote

patrickkomar Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Those are badly casted/cheap guts keihin carbs. I know because my brother bought a set and he never even ran them they look so bad. On the other hand I did take all the guts out of one boiled it lightly and put in the bottom of my fish tank Quote
