jason108 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 hey guy's does boreing out the cylinders make you lose reliability I want to go 0.20 over to make it a 352 cc ,and how good are the wiseco pistons and hot rod cranks ??? Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 To answer your question only bore out the needed dimension, .020 will not affect reliability at all. The most ID FEEL safe at would be .080" over. Wiseco pistons are the standard in this industry and hot rods cranks are also a good piece. May want to check out andy at m&m's cranks, they will be what i go for next after my hotrods gives out (which hopefully wont be for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggg time) Cody Quote

Jereme6655 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 You wont see any performance gain by boring it and throwin new pistons in it. Boring your juggs is to remove the scoring from natural wear and to make a piston fit....its how you rebuild motors...especially 2-strokes... Quote

I build and race lawnmowers and I've been around motors all my life and yes it does give you more power just nothing you can notice unless you go big like 0.40 or more but you still will see only a little bit of a gain Quote
camatv Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 2 strokes are really dependent on ring seal so fitting new pistons and rings often does make a nice performance gain. escpecially 350's! Quote

jason108 Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Why do you want to bore it? Is your compression low? well I just traded my YFZ450 for it and took the head off of it and didn't like what I seen there is alot of piston side to side play and it's a 2003 still at stock bore I'd like a little more compression and to refreshin it up. I don't know what kind of compression is normal for the banshee I know I could crank it over by hand very easy I just got a good deal on a wiseco piston /gasket kit for $199 .00 I want to get a mod Quad head but all the domes I'm finding are for a 65.5 bore Quote
robert.b.west Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Fresh cylinders are around 130-135psi I believe. (at sea level) Anything above 110psi is ok (correct me if I am wong) and no more than 5psi difference between the two. Quote
robert.b.west Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Domes should be good up to that size. And I thought most were good up to 66mm Quote
jason108 Posted January 5, 2011 Author Report Posted January 5, 2011 Domes should be good up to that size. And I thought most were good up to 66mm ok thanks for your time ..do you know the torq spec for the head nuts Quote
robert.b.west Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 ok thanks for your time ..do you know the torq spec for the head nuts 20 ft lbs Quote
Jereme6655 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I know what boreing is for . I build and race lawnmowers and I've been around motors all my life and yes it does give you more power just nothing you can notice unless you go big like 0.40 or more but you still will see only a little bit of a gain alright man...i don't knwo if you were TRYING to be a prick with a smart-ass comment....but i was only trying to help. If your gonna be a prick your gonna get prick-like answers.....like if you really knew about motors you'd realize that you wouldn't SEE any gain in performance by raising your engine by 2cc's. That's what i was trying to say.....and if your still gonna argue and cry and whine im just gonna ask where you got 352cc's from? Quote
midlifecrisis Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Thats a hell of a way to introduce yourself to Jereme, lol. Hes right.......... porting, carbs, timing etc are whats gonna give you performance improvement, not boring it. Take only what you need to out of your sleeves, theyll last longer that way, and dont think your getting a great deal at $199 for the pistons, Wicked quoted me less than that for wisecos on a buddies build 2 days ago. Also, make sure youre getting the bearings with the piston deal, as thats a way that some of these guys get you interested in a package deal, then you open up the box when it arrives to find there arent any. 65.5mm bore is .60 over, not .20 over. The stock bore is 64mm, you know that right? Do yourself a favour and get a clymers manual for it, itll give you all the stock specs and torque settings for your build. Quote
AKheathen Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 lol, yah, you are going to see verry minimal difference between 64 and 66.5mm........like a fraction of 1hp. welcome to 2-strokes. power mainly comes from flow. cam, you are one sick mofo.....i puked in my mouth a little Quote
