so i built my banshee this summer with 400cc serval cylinders and 20cc domes, V Force 3 reeds, 36mm Keihin carbs, and toomey T-6's. but this isn't exactly what i'm looking for. It has plenty of power but you don't feel it until the powerband. I live in a small town and i need more bottom end power. So i guess i need some sort of trail setup, i do go up to dunes every now and again but i'm from alaska so there isn't much of straight streches. Does anyone have any idea's for some serious bottom end power. I'd like to stick to using my stock crank. any ideas?

You're really missing out with the stock crank. A 4 mil would have much more torque.

Try out a pipe better designed for the larger engine, pro circuits are a good choice. Also maybe try a 2-1 intake set up.

Who built your serval? You should ask them for their input.

I didnt know the serval was out in the market in summer? Either way the motor builder would be a good choice for recomendations. But your T-6 pipes are meant for STOCK motors....they absolutely suck and hamper performance on modded motors. If u change your gearing youll gain a feeling of more torque/less top end.....itll feel this way cause your revs will be higher in each gear at a earlier speed....so your powerband will come on at a slower speed....which really sounds like what your lookin for...

yeah. i was thinking about doing a 4mil crank and doing 421cc setup up with trinity pipes. I just don't know what this setup would be good for. i feel like i would never get to use it to it's full potential where i live. I don't want to do anything towards drag racing and i like the stock setup with the banshee. Has anybody done a similar 421 setup or something smaller? if so how did it react and what kind of riding did you do? i would really appreciate any imput you guys have. i just don't want to build another motor that won't give the power when i need it. How ever i don't really want to mess the gearing. It wouldn't feel right to take the power away from the top end. :jesterlaugh: that just wouldn't be nice

Pro Circuits? are you sure? i'm not the biggest fan of them, but i've never used them. Wouldn't a set of trinity pipes be better? i was also thinking about doing a trued and welded stock crank and just going with either a 358 or 392 cub. I like some of the trinity setups and a vito's crank.

If you want more bottom end power that the serval gives, you definitely don't want to go to the Cub. That's the opposite. You don't want to go to a 4 mil, unless you want to buy new cylinders also.

What is your timing set on? What's the compression? Running race gas or pump gas? You should be able to get some more bottom end out of that setup. Smaller carbs and different pipes (as mentioned) should help a lot also.

t-6's make WAY more low end and midrange TQ than either of the pro circuits OR the paul turners..

are you POSITIVE you dont have a cub?

if you really really want low end power you might really want to think about stock cylinders ported to the t-6's and a LOT of compression with race fuel or alky YES i said alky in a trail bike.,. OR buy a 700 raptor.. with what you are describing you might be much happier with a 700 or even a 400 kawa suki dvx

my old trail bike was a trial ported 350 with t-6's and 30mm pwk's 20cc domes, lightened flywheel 15/38 gearing! i LOVED it IN THE TRAILS!! lots of low end and sweet ass throttle response it sucked in the dunes dont get me wrong it was fun to ride in the sand wheelie all over the place but the top end was really hinder'd from t he porting and the pipes it felt a LOT like a stock bike with way more hit in the same range. about 3500-8500 rpm's it made 65hp and 45-50 lbs of tq? was very very flat curve

If you really do have a serval and not a cub, then you just need to change pipes, up the compression, go smaller on the carbs and bump up the timing.

I'd try a PT mid, FMF Gnarly, or a 2into1 pipe. Go with a 28mm carb, or even a 2into1 carb setup. Up your compression with some smaller domes, and bump up your timing. You will need to run racegas with the higher compression and timing.

I would try swapping to smaller carbs or a 2into1 carb setup and lower hitting pipes like PT mids, FMF gnarly's, or a 2into1 pipe first before you change domes and timing.

That's the first time I've heard that. Thought the T6 was a mid/top pipe....

Did i say serval? no, they are cubs from trinity racing. But i deffinitly don't want to switch to a different bike. The banshee works perfect i'm just trying figure out how i can build the motor for the way i ride and where i'm at. I mainly run pump gas through her. Is there a major performance difference between the T-5's and the T-6's? I think i'm aiming torwards either the 358cc or 392cc with a higher compression and smaller carbs. But that would be a cub from trinity racing. Would it still be wise to switch pipes or would this be small enough to run toomies?

Ditch the whole idea of dealing with Trinity and you will be much happier in the end. I deal with Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing. His number is in my signature. He will get you the parts you need to get set up for what you're trying to do, with a LOT faster turnaround time than the other guys.

If you have a cub, you're not going to get what you're looking for in the trails. Just not the way the cubs porting is designed. You want a serval cylinder, or a ported stock cylinder for the trails. You can deck the cub cylinders and get some cut domes to drop the port timings down (I did this to one of my fist cub cylinders I ever had and it was a lot of fun on the trails) but its a lot of work for something you can buy off-the-shelf these days.

Call Kevin and he will get you squared away with what you need.
