what axle is this and how do i remove this nut? i know this is a stupid question but i need to know what posi-lock nut to buy. the eliminator one or the stock one.

this is the only picture of my axle i have right now.

The nut that is on the axle is the one you need to use. Looks like an eliminator style axle. Losen the lock screw on the nut, loosen the nut, then inside the nut you will see a snap ring. Remove the snap ring and the nut slides off the axle. The nut tightens against the snap ring to hold stuff on.

there is no lock screw on the nut. thats why im wondering.

It says +2 lonestar axle in your sig. Is that not the same bike? also the nut looks to painted over. that nut should come off.

 

Some of them didn't have the lock screw through the nut. Its an early model. The nut is threaded on the inside and when you turn the nut the internal portion moves against a snapring that sits recessed inside the nut. To get to the snapring to remove it you have to spin the nut in place. The nut will not come off until the snapring is removed. I've done a bunch of these...

thats just what i was told. never had the axle apart. i guess its a durablue eliminator.
