ColdDogCat Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 What is a good length stretch on swing arm and width of a-arm on my banshee for trail riding, plus to add appearance.Am willing to buy used if anyone has good parts to sell at a fair price. thx Quote
James-26 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 For trail riding IMO a plus 2-6 is going to be ideal for trails. I had a plus 8 on my warrior back in the day and to me it was way to much swingarm for trails. For a-arms plus 2 would be perfect. I'd also add a plus 4 axle to go with the upgrades. Quote
midlifecrisis Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Forget stretching the length of the swinger for trails, it will make it too long. If you do want to, max it out at +2. For a arms, go for a +2+1 setup, that will make the bike 4" wider, and push the stability 1" further forward, it also allows you to keep the stock suspension..They may also lower the front end of the bike a little bit, depending on your setup. If you go with an even wider setup for the front end, youll need to look into a longer travel suspension, as it generally drops the front end too much for the rough stuff. Take the money you were going to spend on the swinger and buy a good set of skid plates for trails, that way you wont bend anything you just bought. Look into a +4 axle as well, theres one presently for sale in the for sale forum Stay away from Burgard a arms, they are very hard to get ahold of for parts. Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 If you go much more than +2 out the back it starts handling like a Lincoln Continental. +4 was tolerable but with a +6 I was getting whiped by a raptor 350 in the tight stuff. So if your trails are open and not that tight longer will work but the tighter the trail the shorter you are going to want to go with the swing arm. Quote
BigRed350x Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 +2+1 A-Arms, +2 swingarm, and a +4 axle. Might as well swap over to a roundhouse carrier on the swingarm if you go to an extended one. You will be much happier in the end. Quote
bansheesrtoys Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) +2+1 arms and a -2 swingarm. turns on a dime, jumps over log easy, and handles alot better than most would think. jmo . and swingarm is round house. you can get any size roundhouse and should.
