picked up an 01 banshee the other day, first banshee for me so it should be fun... the guy that bought it new spent a little money on it and added several things, the next guy beat on it like an ugly stepchild... ive got it back running decent but im having a little trouble with the jetting. its set up as:

 

pro circuit pipes/304 silencers repacked recently.

Pro-flow with K&N, no lid

vforce reed cage& reeds.

 

when i pin the throttle, sometimes it misses and goofs around and holds back, if i reach down and pull the choke it picks up and runs strong.

im at 600ft, its roughly 20-30 degrees F here. currently has a 25/280 jetting, what would you all suggest going to for a safe mix?

I would leave the 25 pilots in and throw 300 mains in, bet that will clean it right up.

 

If it bogs a lil still in the mid after the 300's, richen both needles one notch (move the clips down one on both) and go from there.

 

Let us know whats up.

Sounds like your lean a little bit....... pullin the choke cuttin airflow off lettin it burn richer.... defintly bump your mains up and from there..... post back with results

threw in a set of 300's tonight, it was about 35 out, seemed to help quite a bit, cant decide if i need to go to a 310 though, seems like either its lacking top and power in 5th and 6th or the clutch is slipping...

it dropped another 15 degrees today, banshee is popping and missing on top again, should i go to 320 or 330?

 

 

Go way big and then come down if you need to. You dont want to run it like that very long or you'll be needing pistons. They may be pitted already.

X2. Start rich and work your way down. Try some 320-330's and come down from there if needed. Its better to be a little rich than too lean IMO.

Got the 330's in and it runs 100 percent better but now it has a new habit, if you are free reving it, from low rpm it will backfire on the right hand cyl. And shoot a nice short blue flame, it will also do this if you are riding just under the powerband, and you pin it, it will backfire just before going into powerband, only the right cyl though.

Have you synced your carbs? Sounds like the right hand cylinder is getting less fuel then the left, or the other way around.

x2.do a plug check!! that will tell you if you're too lean.or put your lid back on to richen it up instead of getting back in carbs.in summer my stocker has a lid with 10 drilled filters in it no snorkel and k&n filter,in winter i put on the solid lid with snorkel and pull foam filter over the k&n and richen pilot circuit.get to temp and check plugs.always works great and i dont even have to get in the carbs.obviously every bike,alt,temp is different but thats my little deal lol.

Looks like i should be buying a lid, chances are ill need one anyway as we ride in the creek alot. What ports do you pull off of for a sync? Ive got a vacuum sync from our 4-carb cb750 honda days...

To start, I am about 200', so our elevation is about the same. I run stock carbs for now, VF3s, uni foam filter no lid,and pro circuit pipes. I had a few issues in the late fall with a lean condition, so I bumped it up to a 330 which was rich, so now Im down to a 320, and its way better. So were very similar on our setups.

 

As far as the carbs go, If you remove the airbox, you can see your slides for the carbs. To start off, just make sure they are in the same position as you let the slides rest, and that they both instantly pickup equally as you hit the throttle. Obviously there more advanced ways to set them up, but its a good starting point.
