1bad450r Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 4 mill motor. Got the drag ported stockers already and I really like them to be honest. Haven't ridden a cub motor yet. Advantages/dis advantages? Got a buddy with some unported cubs for sale kinda cheap, thinking about picking them up?? Quote
RadarRacing Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Who ported the stock cyls? An unported cub will outrun 95% of drag ported cylinders. A real good builder can make stockers run very well and outrun an unported cub by a little. Quote
jbirdshee Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 having an un-ported cub myself I can tell you it runs hard no matter which way you look at it and you have lots of room to expand and improve on it. that being said i have been beaten by 2 and possibly a 3rd stock cylinder bikes (to the best of my knowledge) one of them was resleeved to a 68 bore same size as a cub and he just beat me by a a small amount maybe 2 bikes at the top of the hill. (i hillshoot) then the other two bikes beat the crap out of me but one was a full out drag bike, the other which i was told was a stock cylinder by a third person so im not positive, was just damn fast. but when i port mine this winter you can be damn sure i will race those bikes again and hand them their ass. BigRed350x Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 If done right the stock cylinder drag ports hang with the cubs pretty good. I can only talk on hillshooting though. We don't do much 300ft around here. I've had a couple stock cylinder drag ported 4mils that I really liked. I've had both cubs and stockers and always like the stock cylinder ones a little bit more. Everyone and their brother has a cub. Quote

They were ported by a local builder who has a pretty good rep around here for building fast 2 strokes, banshees in particular. I know he spent quite a bit of time porting these cylinders and they definitely run strong. I would still like to send them somewhere maybe like RDZ and see if anything else can be done with them. I prob will pick up those cubs and save them for a rainy day. Quote
sleeper06 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 My 4 mil drag port beats a ported cub 4 - 5 races but the set-up is everything,I spared no expense on that motor and it shows.I just got my drag ported cub back fron nikisil so that motor will go together and ill run both bikes down the track and see Quote
jsn210 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 One of my race buddies runs stock cylinders, stock stroke, stock bore, and it has been 4.50 in 300ft. first time out and 6.90's in 1/8 mile 2nd time out. He has been having tranny issues so may still have a little more in it. Quote
